Speaking on trends and developments at the LMAI Conference, which was held at Jaipur from 16 to 18 July 2015, Jurgen Brau of Erhardt+Leimer stressed on the role of inspection system and 100% print inspection in the label industry.
“In the label industry, one of the major problems is that demand and quantity do match in terms of quality,” Brau said, adding, “Missing text, wrong registration, ink splash are also common in label production printing.
The solution? “100% inspection system can guarantee error-free production,” he said.
Brau said one of the advantages of print inspection is the final check of outgoing rolls. Here, one rewinder can serve several presses. The disadvantage is that the rewinder stops after each detection of defect.
“The 100% print inspection can run at high securities settings, can reduce waste significantly, and can increase confidence of the operator and the owner of print production facility,” said Brau.
The only disadvantage is that it requires slightly higher initial investment.
Erhardt+Leimer India is a fully owned subsidiary of Erhardt+Leimer, Germany. Established in 1978, the company manufactures and markets web guiding systems and web tension monitoring systems for textile, paper, film, foil, tyre and corrugating industries.
